| Joe is a native of Columbia and now resides in Irmo, SC. Joe is the Co-Owner and the Band leader of Coastal Breeze as well as the bands Trumpet player, vocalist, and sax player. Early on, Joe realized his life calling was music. He played lead trumpet with the Gene Dykes Orchestra and the Highway One Big Band at the age of 16 while still in high school. After graduating high school, Joe was offered a gig and played saxophone, trumpet, and trombone with a famous beach band, while studying music performance at the University of South Carolina. After life on the road with the beach band and the good times at USC, Joe joined forces with The Soundsation's variety band where he led the horn section and was also a featured vocalist. Joe was also a featured vocalist and solo and lead trumpet player for several other notable bands over the years including The Highway One Big Band, Mutual Fun, and The Diamond Band! Joe has shared the stage with many artists and groups over the years including Clark Terry, Roger Pemberton, Chris Potter, Wycliff Gordon, Hermans Hermits, The Temptations, The Drifters, and The Embers. Joe owns his own Jazz band "Capital Jazz" and still performs jazz when not performing with the Coastal Breeze band. Joe is also the lead trumpet player with the Capital City Big Band in Columbia and is a guest artist and featured soloist for many bands, groups, and churches in the community. Joe also plays classical trumpet for wedding ceremonies and church services when not performing with Coastal Breeze! Currently, Joe plays trumpet, sings lead and backup vocals and plays Alto Sax and percussion with Coastal Breeze. Joe is also the band leader and Emcee on all gigs for the band. Joe also arranges all his own horn charts for Coastal Breeze! Joe is a proud father of 3 (Jordan 12, Alexis 10, and Samantha 19 months) and is happily married to his wife and best friend, Michelle. Joe is a founding member of The Coastal Breeze Party Band and he also handles all the gig details to keep the band rocking and the dance floor full! His Strong Lead Trumpet playing and horn section arrangements provide the band with a signature sound that other groups simply can't match! |
